On Monday, a German ship successfully saved 14 crew members from treacherous waters off the southern coast of Binh Thuan Province, after they had been adrift for 10 hours. The rescue operation, conducted by the Barzan vessel en route from China to Singapore, took place at approximately 12:20 p.m., as reported by the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center of Area 3 in Vung Tau City.
Earlier that day, around 3:30 a.m., a fishing vessel captained by 37-year-old Huynh Van Ban from the central province of Binh Dinh, along with 13 other crew members, encountered disaster. They were fishing about 92 nautical miles (over 165 km) from Phu Quy Island when their ship succumbed to the waves and sank. Captain Ban sent out distress signals while the crew clung to any floating debris they could find. This incident occurred after the ship had already been at sea for more than two weeks. In recent days, the Binh Thuan sea area has experienced harsh weather conditions, characterized by heavy rainfall, strong winds, and turbulent seas.
