Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh is set to participate in the 28th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP28) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and undertake an official visit to Turkey in the upcoming days. The visit, scheduled from Nov. 29 to Dec. 3, will encompass various bilateral activities in the UAE, and it comes as a result of invitations extended by the UAE and Turkish governments, as outlined in a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
COP28 is slated to take place in Dubai from Nov. 30 to Dec. 12, featuring over 70,000 participants, including government leaders, representatives of non-government organizations, businesses, youth delegates, and other stakeholders.
Vietnam and Turkey established diplomatic relations on June 7, 1978, with Turkey emerging as one of Vietnam’s early business partners in the Middle East. In 2022, bilateral trade revenues exceeded US$2 billion, with Vietnamese exports accounting for $1.6 billion.
Turkey has committed to investing in 36 projects in Vietnam, totaling $974.3 million. Notably, the Vietur joint venture, led by Turkish company IC Ictas, secured a contract in August to construct a passenger terminal valued at VND35 trillion ($1.44 billion) at Long Thanh airport, set to become Vietnam’s largest.
Approximately 200 Vietnamese individuals reside in Turkey. In February, Vietnam extended aid to Turkey, providing $100,000 and dispatching two rescue teams in response to the earthquake disaster.
