The International Solar Alliance (ISA) has introduced the SolarX Startup Challenge for the Asia-Pacific region during COP28, signaling its commitment to nurturing entrepreneurship and propelling solar initiatives. Building on the success of its Africa edition, SolarX APAC is positioned to drive impactful advancements in solar projects.

This revolutionary initiative seeks to foster scalable business models, expedite global energy transitions, and bridge critical gaps between energy and investment.

In the SolarX Startup Challenge, 20 startups from the Asia-Pacific region will be chosen to receive a $15,000 cash grant each. This initiative, embodying a dedication to excellence, offers a transformative platform for entrepreneurial achievement, innovation, and strategic networking.

Successful entrepreneurs will undergo an intensive acceleration program and benefit from mentorship by seasoned professionals. SolarX winners will also gain access to potential investors and diverse markets within the Asia-Pacific region to facilitate market penetration and expansion.

The Asia-Pacific edition of the SolarX challenge is supported by the Sequoia Climate Foundation. Christie Ulman, President of Sequoia Climate Foundation, expressed, “Sequoia Climate Foundation is eager to sustain its partnership with ISA in championing widespread deployment of clean, affordable energy solutions across ISA’s member countries. We are excited to collaborate with ISA in launching the Asia-Pacific edition of the SolarX Challenge, supporting solar scale-up and capacity building in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.”

Drawing inspiration from the success of SolarX Africa, which garnered 182 applications from 28 countries and produced 20 winning companies, including seven women-led ventures, ISA foresees the Asia-Pacific region playing a pivotal role in steering towards a sustainable and low-carbon future.
