Vietnam Passport Ranked 73rd Globally in Terms of Power

Arton Capital, a global citizenship financial advisory firm, has positioned the Vietnamese passport at the 73rd spot in its 2024 ranking, providing access to 70 destinations. This places Vietnam behind many Southeast Asian neighbors.

Arton Capital’s ranking assessed 199 passports globally based on visa-free access, visa on arrival, e-visa (issued within three days), or electronic travel authorization.

Vietnamese passport holders enjoy entry to 70 countries, including 24 without a prior visa and 46 with visas obtained on arrival, according to Arton Capital.

In Southeast Asia, the Vietnamese passport surpasses Laos (79th) and Myanmar (84th).

Singapore holds the fifth most powerful passport globally, granting access to 175 countries.

The Malaysian passport ranks tenth globally, offering visa-free or visa on arrival access to 170 destinations, while the Thai passport stands at 51st, allowing citizens to visit 97 countries.

The UAE passport remains the world’s most powerful, enabling entry into 180 countries, followed by Germany, Spain, France, Italy, and the Netherlands sharing the second position.

Countries in political conflicts, including Pakistan, Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Syria, possess the world’s least powerful passports.

In the previous year, the Henley Passport Index ranked the Vietnamese passport at 82nd, providing visa access to 55 destinations.

Vietnam currently grants visa waivers for 25 countries and offers three-month tourist e-visas to citizens from all countries.
