Nestlé Announces Additional $100 Million Investment in Nestlé Tri An, Dong Nai

Nestlé Vietnam recently unveiled a $100 million additional investment in the Nestlé Tri An factory located in the southern province of Dong Nai. This injection brings the total investment in the factory to $500 million.

The augmented investment is set to double the factory’s capacity, strategically addressing the surging global demand for coffee and positioning Vietnam as a pivotal high-value coffee production and supply hub.

Currently, the Nestlé Tri An factory exports its coffee products to over 29 countries worldwide. Nestlé also stands as the largest coffee purchaser in Vietnam, with an annual procurement value of $700 million.

Binu Jacob, the Managing Director of Nestlé Vietnam, emphasized, “The project underscores Nestlé’s dedication to long-term investments in Vietnam. Upon full operation, the factory will significantly enhance its capacity to meet both domestic and export demands. This initiative is anticipated to generate more employment opportunities, fostering sustained investment activities in Vietnam and contributing to the country’s resilient economic growth.”

Nestlé places a strong focus on sustainable coffee production in Vietnam, incorporating clean energy and biomass energy at the Nestlé Tri An factory. The facility adopts circular economy practices in waste management and water conservation.

Consequently, the factory achieves a reduction of 14,000 metric tonnes of carbon emissions annually during coffee processing. All coffee grounds are converted into biomass energy, and wastewater is processed, recycled, and reused for boilers, resulting in the preservation of over 112,000 cubic meters of water annually.

To enhance the quality of Vietnamese coffee beans, Nestlé has implemented the NESCAFÉ Plan in the Central Highlands since 2011. This program encompasses initiatives like distributing high-quality coffee saplings, implementing regenerative farming practices, and promoting water resource and biodiversity conservation.

Jacob added, “With a sustainable business strategy, Nestlé Vietnam strives to create nutritious products, elevate the quality of Vietnamese coffee beans, and safeguard and regenerate resources for future generations.”

Nestlé’s cumulative investment in Vietnam currently stands at $830 million, with four factories and two distribution centers.
