Da Nang, the central port city, is set to establish a research center dedicated to semiconductors and artificial intelligence, ushering in new prospects for Vietnam’s semiconductor industry.
On Friday, the Da Nang People’s Committee issued a decision to create the Da Nang Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence Center for Research and Training, with Le Hoang Phuc appointed as its director.
The center is anticipated to be located within a software park area in Hai Chau District, with ongoing legal procedures for the project.
The center will play a pivotal role in training personnel and attracting investments to foster research and startup ventures within the realms of semiconductors and artificial intelligence.
During the 2024-2025 period, the center aims to finalize all legal frameworks pertaining to its structure and organization, as well as processes and procedures related to proposing drafts on development policy mechanisms, international cooperation, and support for businesses in the sector.
Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee, emphasized the center’s collaboration with the city to initiate and implement projects for semiconductor development in the region.
By 2030, Vietnam envisions having approximately 50,000 chip engineers, 200,000 semiconductor engineers, and 500,000 workers in the semiconductor industry.
