Upon commencing its initial phase of operations in 2026, Long Thanh Airport is projected to require a workforce of 14,000 individuals, as disclosed by the Dong Nai People’s Committee.
During a Wednesday conference focused on the training of Long Thanh Airport operators, Vo Tan Duc, the acting chairman of the People’s Committee in southern Dong Nai Province, emphasized that out of the 14,000 personnel needed to manage the airport, over 5,000 are expected to possess university degrees or higher qualifications.
The primary workforce will comprise leaders and managers responsible for the direct oversight and provision of services at the airport, including flight operations.
With an investment of approximately VND336.63 trillion ($16 billion), Long Thanh Airport is set to supersede Tan Son Nhat in Ho Chi Minh City as Vietnam’s largest airport, boasting a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tons of cargo annually.
The initial operational phase is anticipated to accommodate up to 25 million passengers per year, with this phase slated to commence in 2026.
A representative from the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) highlighted that following Long Thanh Airport’s operational launch, flights covering distances exceeding 1,000 km will predominantly operate from Long Thanh, necessitating personnel training in aircraft maintenance and repair.
Additionally, training institutions should prioritize the cultivation of highly skilled workers in IT, databases, biometrics, and other relevant fields.
