Additional $39 Million Allocated for Long Thanh Airport Relocation Budget

An additional VND966 billion ($39.61 million) has been allocated for the Long Thanh International Airport relocation project, overcoming previous bureaucratic hurdles.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai signed the decision for the new funding on Thursday.

The total relocation cost is VND22.86 trillion, originally intended to be fully disbursed by the end of 2022. However, only VND16.7 trillion was disbursed by that time.

Dong Nai Province, where the airport is under construction, has acquired almost 99% of the required land (4,882 hectares). Approval has been granted for the relocation of 4,161 households.

In November, the National Assembly voted to extend the relocation project deadline by two years, concluding at the end of this year. Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai has an estimated cost of VND336.63 trillion and a designed capacity of 100 million passengers annually. The first phase, accommodating 25 million passengers, is slated for completion by 2025.
