This marks Da Nang’s second consecutive year at the top, having claimed first place in 2021 with 79.82 points.
The 2022 rankings, unveiled on December 30, 2023, are based on the Environmental Protection Performance Indicators (PEPI) established by the ministry:
The top five spots include Bac Kan (70.29 points), Lang Son (65.62 points), Bac Ninh (65.29 points), and Tien Giang (65.22 points).
Hanoi secured 46th place with 55.70 points, while Ho Chi Minh City ranked 19th with 60.80 points.
The provinces of Bac Lieu, Dak Lak, Yen Bai, Vinh Phuc, and Binh Thuan occupied the bottom positions with 47.04, 49.05, 49.76, 50.12, and 51.63 points, respectively.
The PEPI 2022 rankings aim to empower provincial and city administration chairpersons by offering insights for the adoption of more effective environmental protection measures. This initiative assesses residents’ satisfaction with their living environment, promoting awareness about environmental protection.
Launched in October 2019, the PEPI comprises 27 component indexes categorized into evaluating the implementation of environmental protection objectives and tasks, along with assessing people’s satisfaction with the quality of the living environment, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.
