The groundbreaking ceremony for the largest factory in the Asia-Pacific region by Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage Company took place on Monday at the Huu Thanh Industrial Park in Long An province, located in the Mekong Delta.
Spanning nearly 20 hectares, the project boasts an investment of over US$300 million. Upon completion, it is anticipated to produce 800 million liters annually, bolstering the company’s capacity to meet consumer demands and solidify its position as a leader in the Vietnamese market.
Embracing sustainability, the factory will operate using renewable energy sources like biomass fuel and solar power, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions during production. Additionally, it will utilize packaging made entirely from recycled plastic and implement resource-saving initiatives in its manufacturing processes.
This initiative underscores the company’s commitment to supporting the Vietnamese Government’s sustainability goals, particularly aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.
Jahanzeb Khan, the General Director of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam, emphasized that the Long An factory represents the company’s largest investment in Vietnam to date.
This facility will elevate productivity and sustainable development standards, paving the path for the company’s long-term growth and its ability to cater to consumers. It marks the sixth operational site for the firm in Vietnam.
Nguyen Van Ut, Chairman of the Long An provincial People’s Committee, highlighted the recent influx of major projects from investors such as Lotte, VinaCapital, Saigontel, Coca-Cola, and Aeon. These investments signal positive economic growth and showcase the rapid development of the province.
