Hanoi has set a target for its per capita income in 2024 to reach VND162 million ($6,679), reflecting a 7.28% increase from the current VND151 million.
During a Thursday conference on socio-economic development in 2024 led by the Hanoi People’s Committee, the city is aiming for a GRDP growth rate of 6.5-7% and a per capita income within the range of VND160-162 million.
Additionally, Hanoi aspires to achieve a 95% clean water access rate in rural areas, marking a 5% improvement from 2023. The city also aims to raise the rate of public transport utilization to 22-25%, up from 20% in 2023.
Hanoi reported several socio-economic development accomplishments in 2023, including a GRDP growth of 6.27%, a total national budget revenue exceeding VND400 trillion (113.5% of the target), and a total FDI value of around $2.9 billion—a 62% increase compared to the previous year.
However, the capital fell short of achieving four specific goals: attaining a 7% GRDP growth, increasing investment capital, boosting export turnover, and meeting the standard for industrial clusters with wastewater treatment facilities.
Various construction projects faced delays, including the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line, renovation of old apartment complexes, environmental cleanup in downtown rivers, solid waste treatment projects, and addressing water shortages in specific districts.
Hanoi is committed to completing strategic, long-term missions, such as amending the Law on the Capital, planning for Hanoi from 2021-2030 with a vision until 2050, and making adjustments to the general planning of Hanoi until 2045 and beyond.
