Huawei has proposed establishing a 5G innovation center in Vietnam, aligning with the Chinese tech giant’s commitment to bolstering the country’s 5G services.

This initiative was revealed by Simon Lin, Senior Vice President of Huawei and President of Huawei Asia-Pacific Region, during a meeting with Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung on March 22. Minister Hung disclosed Vietnam’s plans to launch nationwide 5G services later this year.

Despite being a late entrant to the 5G landscape, Vietnam stands to benefit by leveraging insights from other nations and leveraging more cost-effective solutions.

“Huawei aims to support Vietnam’s 5G rollout through knowledge-sharing workshops and seminars, drawing from our extensive experience in deploying 5G networks globally,” noted Lin. “Our proposed 5G innovation center will establish testing standards, offer advanced lab facilities, and facilitate workforce training, serving as a catalyst for the burgeoning 5G ecosystem,” he elaborated.

Huawei has been at the forefront of 5G commercialization for four years, with over 50,000 industrial applications deployed worldwide and more than 10 million industrial connections. In China, 5G has been extensively utilized across manufacturing, energy, logistics, and healthcare sectors.

5G infrastructure is pivotal for advancing the digital economy, enabling high-speed data downloads that foster communication and social network development.

The advent of 5G is poised to enhance productivity in production and processing industries, attracting further high-tech ventures to Vietnam’s landscape.
