In January, the country experienced a notable 80% surge in agro-forestry-fishery exports, reaching $5.14 billion compared to the same month last year, as reported by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
Import values rose by 40% year-on-year to $3.72 billion, resulting in a trade surplus exceeding $1.4 billion, marking a yearly increase of over 4.6 times.
Forestry products led the export revenue with $1.49 billion, up 73%, followed by seafood at $730 million (up 61%), farm produce at $2.71 billion (up 94%), production inputs at $177 million (up 50%), and livestock farming at $36 million (up 3.5%).

Notably, exports to the American region soared to $1.18 billion, a 94% increase; Africa reached $104 million, up by 185%; Asia amounted to $2.52 billion, showing an 86% surge; Europe saw an increase to $532 million, up by 38%; and $78 million, marking a 101% rise.
China emerged as the largest consumer of Vietnam’s agro-forestry-fishery products, constituting 23% of the total and experiencing a yearly growth of 106%. The United States followed closely with 20.8%, reflecting a 96% increase, while Japan secured the third position with 7.4%, up by 48%.
