Boeing plans to increase manufacturing operations in Vietnam

Boeing plans to increase its investment in Vietnam to manufacture aircraft parts and equipment. The company’s senior vice president for global public policy discussed the plan with the Vietnamese Minister of Industry and Trade.

Currently, both Vietnamese and foreign companies make parts for Boeing in Vietnam, but the former mostly make low-value items. The Vietnamese Minister called on Boeing to speed up training and technology transfer in Vietnam to support local manufacturers.

Boeing has been in Vietnam since 1995 and has provided technical assistance for defense and commercial aviation, as well as assisting Vietnam Airlines in obtaining a license to fly non-stop from Ho Chi Minh City to San Francisco.
