Coconut exports to be worth $1B this year

The Vietnam Coconut Association has reported that Vietnam is expected to earn $1 billion from exports of fresh coconuts and coconut products this year, which is an increase from the $900 million earned last year.
The association attributes this growth to China’s increased import of coconuts from Vietnam. Vietnam has become the fourth largest exporter of coconut and coconut products in the Asia-Pacific region, despite not being a significant player in the industry five years ago. Several companies, including Vina T&T Import-Export Company and G.C Food Joint Stock Company, are increasing their exports of fresh coconuts and coconut jelly to countries such as the US, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.
The Ben Tre Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation is also strengthening its production of coconut dried endosperm, oil, and milk for export. The Vietnam Coconut Association is developing sustainable growing zones and promoting exports in China, Japan, and the EU. The global demand for coconut products is expected to continue growing, particularly in the cosmetics and beauty industry, with the International Coconut Community forecasting an annual growth rate of 10% until 2025.
