Foreign Investment in Vietnam Surpasses $16 Billion

According to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Vietnam has witnessed a growth in foreign investment, attracting approximately $16.24 billion in the first seven months of this year, representing a 4.5% increase compared to the previous year. During this period, there were 1,293 newly-registered projects, totaling $7.94 billion in capital, indicating a significant rise of 75.5% in the number of projects and 38.6% in capital compared to the same period last year. Additionally, $2.93 billion was invested in 736 existing projects.

The manufacturing and processing sector emerged as the top sector in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), with a total of $10.93 billion. The real estate sector followed with an investment of $1.61 billion. Throughout January to July, a total of 94 countries and territories contributed capital to Vietnam. Among them, Singapore ranked first with an investment of $3.64 billion, although this marked a 15.5% decrease compared to the previous year.
