Foreign Tourist Arrivals in Vietnam Near 98% of Annual Target

Vietnam has welcomed 7.8 million foreign visitors in the first eight months of this year, bringing the country close to achieving its annual target of 8 million. In August alone, international arrivals reached 1.2 million, representing a 17.2% increase compared to the previous month. This marks the second consecutive month where foreign tourist arrivals have exceeded one million, as reported by the General Statistics Office.

Among the top countries sending visitors to Vietnam, South Korea takes the lead with 2.27 million tourists, followed by China with nearly 950,000, and the U.S. with 502,000.

The peak season for international tourism in Vietnam typically spans from September until April of the following year, as Western tourists flock to the country for a winter holiday break.

Vietnam’s new immigration policy now allows citizens from all countries and territories to register for e-visas, which are valid for multiple entries and for a duration of 90 days. Additionally, the government has extended the length of stays in Vietnam from 15 to 45 days for citizens of 13 countries that are unilaterally exempted from visas.
