This week, Vietnam welcomes a significant U.S. business delegation, which includes Meta, Boeing, and wind energy firm GE Vernova, indicating sustained corporate interest in the Southeast Asian nation following the upgrade in ties with Washington last year. According to the US-ASEAN Business Council, approximately 50 companies will participate, a similar size to last year’s delegation to Vietnam.
Other participants include Koch Industries, UL Solutions, Chubb, Roblox, ATMO, and The AES Corporation, many of whom are already active in Vietnam.
Meta’s Facebook platform boasts over 60 million users in Vietnam, making it one of its largest global markets.
Last year, Boeing inked a preliminary deal with national carrier Vietnam Airlines for the purchase of 50 737 planes.
U.S. President Joe Biden elevated relations with Vietnam last year, emphasizing increased cooperation in the semiconductor industry.
Despite this, the organisers noted that no semiconductor firms are slated to join this week’s business delegation.
The business mission will engage in meetings with local authorities from Tuesday to Thursday.
Additionally, on Monday, a smaller delegation of security firms intends to explore potential business opportunities with representatives from Vietnam’s ministries of defense and police, as per the organisers’ plans.
