The Ministry of Health is proposing new measures to strengthen the oversight of online cosmetics sales, aiming to curb the proliferation of counterfeits and products with uncertain origins.
The ministry recommends that the Ministry of Industry and Trade formulate additional guidelines mandating e-commerce and social media cosmetics vendors to disclose detailed information about the origins and quality of their products.
Recognizing the current challenge of effectively monitoring online cosmetics transactions and identifying sellers, the ministry emphasizes the need for a more comprehensive approach.
Existing regulations do not mandate individuals to register as businesses when selling cosmetics through online platforms.
The health ministry contends that an enhanced legal framework will not only improve control mechanisms but also promote sustainable growth within the digital marketplaces of the cosmetics sector.
The implementation of these regulations is anticipated to result in an approximate 2-3% increase in operational costs for businesses per sale. To mitigate these additional expenses, businesses are encouraged to consider potential adjustments to their retail prices.
