Oregon Explores Investment Prospects in Vietnam’s Binh Duong Province

On November 21, a delegation from the US state of Oregon, headed by Katherine Lam, Commissioner at the Port of Portland, visited the southern province of Binh Duong to explore the local investment climate. Nguyen Loc Ha, Vice Chairman of Binh Duong’s People’s Committee, welcomed the delegation and highlighted the province’s investment priorities, focusing on sectors like finance, logistics, supporting industries, and high-tech agriculture. He emphasized Binh Duong’s commitment to fostering industries that are eco-friendly and less dependent on labor, aiming to generate high value-added products.

Vice Chairman Ha also shared that Binh Duong is home to 4,191 foreign projects from 65 countries and territories, amassing over 40.2 billion USD in registered capital. The province holds the second spot in Vietnam for foreign investment attraction, trailing only behind Ho Chi Minh City. The United States is currently the 10th largest investor in Binh Duong, with 135 projects totaling an investment of 1.36 billion USD. He reassured that the province provides advantageous conditions for US investors, including those from Oregon.

Katherine Lam, who also serves as President & CEO of Bambuza Hospitality Group, commended Binh Duong’s rapid growth and conveyed the Oregon government’s hope for continued support from Binh Duong to facilitate further investment and business expansion for US companies, particularly those from Oregon.
