South Korea’s low-cost carrier, Aero K Airlines, has inaugurated a new route linking Cheongju City to the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang.
Aero K Airlines has announced that Da Nang is the inaugural destination in Vietnam for its regular flights from Cheongju, with one flight scheduled daily.
The inaugural flight departed from Cheongju at 10:05 p.m. on Feb. 5, arriving in Da Nang at 00:45 a.m. the following day. The return flight took off from Da Nang at 2:15 a.m. on the same day.
Mai Thi Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Da Nang Tourism Promotion Centre, expressed that Aero K’s flights between Cheongju and Da Nang will provide travelers from both countries, as well as the two localities, with enhanced travel options, particularly during the upcoming Lunar New Year 2024.
In addition to the launch event, the city’s tourism department and the Korean airline are collaborating to organize a welcome ceremony for the 170 passengers on board the inaugural Aero K flight from Cheongju to Da Nang.
South Korea represents the primary international market for tourism in Da Nang. Each day, there are between 23 and 25 flights from major Korean cities such as Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Muan, and Cheongju, accounting for over 50% of the total number of international flights to Da Nang.
Da Nang International Airport anticipates approximately 894 flights during the Lunar New Year 2024, from Feb. 8 to 14, reflecting a 16% increase compared to the same period last year.
During this period, the city anticipates welcoming nearly 362,000 visitors, including 172,000 foreigners, marking a 23% increase from the same period last year.
