Emphasizing a commitment to strengthening its relationship with China as a top priority and strategic imperative, Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong conveyed his support for a robust socialist China during discussions with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, on Tuesday.
General Secretary Trong expressed high regard for Xi’s third visit to Vietnam, highlighting it as a testament to Xi’s keen interest in the enduring friendship, bilateral ties, and promising future between the two nations.
Grateful for the historical assistance from the Chinese people in Vietnam’s revolutionary endeavors and acknowledging ongoing support for present-day socialist initiatives and national development, the Vietnamese Party leader extended his appreciation.
Trong reaffirmed Vietnam’s steadfast foreign policy, emphasizing independence, self-reliance, peace, friendship, cooperation, and development. He stressed Vietnam’s proactive global integration as a trustworthy friend, partner, and responsible member of the international community.
Building on achievements of the past 15 years, both leaders concurred on the imperative to establish a “China-Vietnam community with a shared future of strategic significance” to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership and meet new bilateral requirements.
Following their discussions, the leaders reviewed and were briefed on 36 cooperation agreements spanning various fields signed between ministries, agencies, and localities of both nations during Xi’s visit. These agreements encompass government, ministry, and agency-level collaborations, as well as those pertaining to politics, foreign affairs, security, national defense, and cooperation between regions of the two countries, according to the Vietnam Government Portal.
