A waste processing facility located in the central Thua Thien Hue Province is on track to produce 12MW of electricity per hour by handling a daily load of 600 tons of waste.
Situated in Phu Son Commune within Huong Thuy Town, approximately 22 km from Hue City, this facility is being constructed by China’s Everbright Environment Company with an investment of VND1.7 trillion (US$69.1 million).
Approaching completion, the plant is scheduled to commence operations in the current quarter.
Engineered to manage about 220,000 tons of waste annually, it aims to generate 93 million kWh of electricity.
Stringent measures are in place to ensure the thorough treatment of the factory’s wastewater, meeting all safety standards before its release into the environment. The automatic monitoring system will transmit wastewater parameters to the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment for regular checks.
Le Ba Phuc, the director of the department, mentioned that upon the plant’s inauguration, the province plans to decommission several landfills, although specific details regarding the number or locations were not provided.
