VietinBank is gearing up to auction a 2021 McLaren 765LT Coupe, a two-seater seized in October, with bidding starting at VND27.5 billion (US$1.13 million).
VietinBank AMC, responsible for debt collection, revealed that the car, bearing license number 51K-011.86, was registered in HCMC in 2022 by a female owner. This high-performance vehicle was offered as collateral for a bank loan and was seized in early October. Thien Binh Auction Partnership Company has been assigned by VietinBank AMC to conduct the auction.
Key details of the auction, such as the date and location, are yet to be disclosed. The McLaren 765LT Coupe, a limited edition priced at VND35 billion, excluding VND5 billion in taxes and fees, entered Vietnam last year.
The luxury car brand inaugurated its first official showroom in HCMC in October, and the exclusive 765LT model was a rare acquisition. Over the past year, several banks have been compelled to seize and auction high-end vehicles serving as collateral, with starting bids reaching tens of billions of dong (VND10 billion = $412,328).
