Vietnam Airlines, the national flag carrier, has earned recognition as one of the most punctual airlines in the Asia-Pacific region for 2023, securing the ninth position with an impressive on-time performance rate of 77.46%.
All Nippon Airways, a Japanese carrier, claimed the top spot with an on-time performance rate of 82.75%, while Japan Airlines closely followed with 82.58%, as reported by travel data analytics firm Cirium. Thai AirAsia from Thailand secured the third position with an on-time performance rate of 82.52%, trailed by IndiGo (InterGlobe Aviation Ltd), a budget carrier from India, at 82.12%, and Air New Zealand at 79.68%.
Completing the top 10 are Garuda Indonesia (76.7%), Singapore Airlines (78.57%), Philippines Airlines (77.46%), and Cathay Pacific from Hong Kong (76.32%).
Cirium meticulously compiled this list by analyzing real-time flight information from 600 sources, ensuring accuracy from various entities such as airports, air navigation service providers, global distribution systems, airlines, positional data, civil aviation authorities, the Internet, and proprietary data partnerships.
On a global scale, the title of the most punctual airline in the past year goes to Avianca Airlines from Colombia, boasting an impressive on-time performance rate of 85.73%. Brazil’s Azul Airlines secured the second position with 85.51%, followed by Qatar Airways at 85.11%.
