Vietnam’s tourist earnings for January to November reached approximately VND628.3 trillion (over US$25.8 billion), surpassing the entire revenue generated in the previous year, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT). In 2020, the tourism industry earned VND495 trillion, equivalent to 66% of the 2019 revenues, the year preceding the onset of the Covid pandemic.

The country hosted 103.2 million domestic tourist arrivals in the first 11 months, with a concentration in May to July, particularly June, witnessing 13.5 million travelers. The November figure reached 4.5 million. Additionally, more than 11.2 million international visitors chose Vietnam as their holiday destination during this period.

November recorded over 1.23 million international arrivals, marking an 11% month-on-month increase and the highest monthly number of international tourists for the year. Vietnam initially aimed for 8 million foreign tourists in 2023, but the number already approached 8.9 million in the first nine months, equivalent to 111% of the initial target.

As a result, the ministry proposed that the government raise the target to 12.5 – 13 million for the entire year.
