Vietnamese EV manufacturer VINFAST is set to debut its right-hand drive EV models in the international market for the first time at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2024, scheduled from Feb. 15 to 25.
According to a press release on Feb. 7, the company’s decision reflects its strong commitment to democratizing access to EVs.
“VinFast is excited to officially introduce its brand to the Indonesian market at IIMS 2024. Our goal is to offer local customers a wider range of eco-friendly transportation options, along with dedicated support throughout their electric vehicle ownership journey. We’re eager to inspire the market to embrace the boundless possibilities of a modern and sustainable mobility landscape,” stated Tran Quoc Huy, VinFast Indonesia CEO, as cited in the release.
Indonesia, with a population of 250 million people, stands as the largest economy in Southeast Asia and a major automotive market in the region. It represents a pivotal market for VinFast and a crucial component of its global electric vehicle supply chain.
VinFast had previously disclosed plans to invest in the construction of a manufacturing facility in Indonesia, with an annual capacity of up to 50,000 EVs.
