Power Outages Cause Significant Disruption for Tourists and Hotels in Ha Long Bay

The UNESCO-recognized Ha Long Bay has been hit hard by massive power cuts, causing many tourists to cancel their travel plans and leaving hotels struggling to stay in business.
Nguyen Thanh Dan, a tourist from HCMC, booked a five-star hotel room in Ha Long City for two weeks, but on the first night, the power went out, forcing her to cancel her room and rent another at a nearby three-star hotel. Many hotels, motels, and restaurants have been forced to bear additional costs and rent emergency generators due to the sudden power cuts.
The state utility Vietnam Electricity has predicted a power shortage of 1,600-4,900 megawatts between May and July, causing challenges this summer. The situation has caused significant disruption to tourism activities during the peak summer travel season, and if the power outages continue, it will hit businesses hard.
