Transfer of Land for Long Thành International Airport Successfully Concluded

HCM CITY – The Airports Corporation of Việt Nam (ACV) has successfully received the land necessary for the first phase of construction for Long Thanh International Airport. The handover included a total of 2,532 hectares of land from Đồng Nai Province, consisting of 1,810 hectares within the project construction area and 722 hectares in the land reserve area. However, ACV noted that the handover of two traffic routes connecting to the project was not yet complete.

Route No. 1 received 90.7% of the designated land area, while Route No. 2 received 34.3%. ACV has urged the local authorities to expedite the site clearance and handover process for the remaining area to ensure smooth construction progress. The corporation has allocated funds of approximately VNĐ1.6 trillion ($65.2 million) for site clearance costs and is ready to transfer the payment to affected households once approved by the People’s Committee of Long Thành District.

ACV’s report indicates that as of October, over 88% of the total construction volume, equivalent to about 102 million cubic meters of actual excavation and leveling work, has been completed. Priority areas for main structural construction have been leveled, meeting the government and Ministry of Transport’s 15-month schedule. Runways, taxiways, aircraft aprons, and areas of component projects 1, 2, and 4 have been completed according to the proposed plan, ensuring construction progress. The Long Thành International Airport project has a total investment of VNĐ336,630 billion ($13.71 billion) and will be executed in three phases.

Phase 1 includes the construction of a runway, passenger terminal, and auxiliary facilities with a capacity of accommodating 25 million passengers per year. Phase 1 is expected to be completed and operational by 2026. Phase 2 will involve the construction of an additional runway and terminal to increase the capacity to 50 million passengers per year. Phase 3 will complete the remaining components to achieve a capacity of 100 million passengers per year, making it the largest airport in Việt Nam and one of the busiest transit airports in the region. ACV stated that with the “clean” site handover, contractors will be able to proceed with the Long Thành International Airport project promptly to ensure timely progress.
