FACTS OF CONCRETE INDUSTRY IN VIETNAM

BMI VIEW OF VIETNAM’S CONCRETE INDUSTRY

Our outlook for Vietnam’s construction and infrastructure sector remains positive, supported by strong economic growth, regulatory changes, large FDI inflows and strong project pipeline.

Our outlook for Vietnam’s construction industry remains positive and we forecast real growth to 6.7%.

We forecast transport infrastructure growth to peak at 6.8% in 2016. The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has submitted for a list of priority transportation projects to government, for approval, that will be developed in a public-private partnership (PPP) format between 2016 and 2020.

CURRENT SITUATION OF THE CONCRETE AND CEMENT INDUSTRY

Production capacity and factors affect production of enterprises in the industry

In recent years, a number of large cement factories have focused on the domestic market as the market is growing strongly. Vietnam cement industry currently has about 14 rotary kiln cement plants with a total designed capacity of 21.5 million tons per year, 55 vertical kiln cement plants, rotary kiln converted total capacity equivalent to 6 million tons / year, about 18 million tons of cement produced from domestic clinker (corresponding to 14.41 million tons of clinker).

Most cement plants employ dry-engineering methods, the rest of the cement mills 1.4 million to 2.3 million tons per year with equipment and technical equivalent to other plants in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam has about 31 rotary kiln cement projects with a total designed capacity of 39 million tons distributed in many regions of the country. Most of them are in the North, Central and only 4/31 in the South.

FACTORS AFFECTING THE PRODUCTION CAPACITY OF ENTERPRISES:

Northern companies have a favorable geographic location for the exploitation of input materials so that they can take initiative in production capacity

BASF inaugurated its new production plant for concrete admixtures in the northern province of BắcGiang, Vietnam. The new plant will allow BASF to better meet the increasing demands for high quality construction chemicals products in Vietnam.

Located at the VănTrung Industrial Park in BắcGiang province, the plant is equipped with production units, a laboratory for product quality control as well as warehousing facilities. There, BASF produces both standard and custom-made performance admixtures from the MasterGlenium® product line under the Master Builders Solutions® brand. The company’s construction chemicals have been used in many popular construction projects such as as the NộiBài T2 Airport and the NhậtTân Bridge

“The new plant enhances our flexibility to serve our customers with a timely supply and shorter lead times, especially in the northern part of Vietnam,” said Christian Mombaur, head of Construction Chemicals Asia Pacific, BASF. “Northern Vietnam is continuing its path of rapid urbanization and industrialization. Our new BắcGiang plant will enable us to stay closer to our customers and offer solutions to meet the growing demands in specialized construction chemicals, especially for building multi-story buildings and long-lasting infrastructure construction projects.”
